Kinesiology & Mind Body Medicine
The basis of Mind Body Medicine is to recognise that the mind & the body cannot be separated. The central nervous system and peripheral nervous system are interconnected and encompass the whole body. The brain (being part of the central nervous system) influences the body via hormones, neuropeptides, sends signals to the whole body via the nervous systems and processes the information received from the peripheral nervous (sensory neurons).
What is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is very powerful complementary medicine that focuses on bringing balance to the mind and the body.
It uses the principles of muscle monitoring (as natural biofeeback mechanism) and various energetic system of the body to uncover and help us decode the messages that our body is sending to us.
Those messages can be stress, tension, overwhelm, pain, confusing feelings, digestive or sleep issues.
Kinesiology enables us to tap into a much bigger source of information, held at a subconscious level and quickly and effectively find root causes of stress, patterns and put the pieces together.
Stresses (past or present), whether environmental, nutritional, emotional, structural may impede the normal flow of energy (Chi or Qi) which can cause illness and disease.
Kinesiologists work on improving health and wellbeing by stimulating the client’s own
healing potential in other word to let the body work the way it is meant to do.
Kinesiologists do not claim to diagnose and label illness.
The real goal of any 'balance' is to identify the bottom-line cause of this malfunction and then to correct it.

Kinesiology sessions are organised around a goal. A positive affirmation that focus on what you want to achieve (rather that don’t want to feel etc… this will already plant a seed in your subconscious around change). Therefore everything that will “show” during a session will be expressed around this goal.
Because defining the most relevant goal for your session is one key element to your healing outcome, aside from muscle monitoring, I also use the ancient TCM principles derived from the Yin-Yang theory, the Bagua Constitutions (which are the bases of the 5 elements theory) for my initial assessments.
Using these principles I will look at your symptoms and emotional state in a holistic way. This will help me understand what may be the underlying root cause, the motivator and guide you through questioning towards the most appropriate goal for the session (which may be completely different from what you originally thought).
Please note you will always remain in full control of the session and can stop or pause at any point if you wish to. The body has this innate wisdom that it will not show anything we are not ready to deal with.
Also that the information you will share with me is strictly confidential, will not be disclosed without your consent (unless for mandatory reporting purposes) and will be stored securely to prevent any unauthorized access.
What happens during a Kinesiology session ?
Once you book with me, you will be emailed an intake form to fill out in preparation for your session.
This intake covers many aspects of your health and gives you an opportunity to think about your goals and what you would like to achieve from the treatment whether it is physical like pain, emotional and what you would like to change or create in your life.
It is greatly recommended to complete and return the intake form back to me before our initial session to make the most of the time spent together.
During your first session, we will discuss the information on the intake form and go through a postural assessment and assessment of physical range of motion (for musculoskeletal complaints only).
Once we have a shared understanding of the issue and focus, I will invite you to remove your shoes and lie face up on a comfortable massage table fully clothed.
I will then use muscle monitoring in combination with acupressure point to try to identify underlying stresses in the physical and energetic bodies (for examples from the muscles, organs, meridians). This process involves gentle movements of your limbs in specific directions and look for an “indicator change”: muscle changing from a locking state to unlocking and vice versa.
This gives me an indication there may be a problem in a particular area which could be structural, chemical, nutritional, mental, emotional or spiritual.
We will discuss whether and how you relate to it. The purpose is to help you become consciously aware of the relationship of this stress with your goal. I will also check the results against other information including signs and symptoms and other assessment tools. When emotional stress is brought into conscious awareness it is easier to integrate and release it.
Once we have mapped the underlying stresses, I will also use muscle monitoring to find what is needed to restore balance. Different energy techniques may come up to restore flow.
Your session will finish with a summary of what has come up during the session and recommendation for “homework” or lifestyle changes to incorporate between appointments.
Each session is customized to your need and will be a unique experience. It will mainly depend on what you are working on the day.
Who can benefit from Kinesiology?
Kinesiology can benefit adults, teens and children of all ages.
For muscle testing to be reliable, it is recommended for the child to be over 7 yo.
It is possible to surrogate for babies and small children by using the parent for muscle testing. This can be mum or dad. All treatments are conducted on the child (not the parent).
Muscle testing gives them a voice to express their needs. All Kinesiology treatments are safe, gentle and non invasive.

After the session
You may need to do some self-supporting activities at home to maintain the balance. This may involve, for example, meditation, repeating an affirmation, taking a flower essence, self-acupressure or keeping a diary.
Afterwards, drink plenty of water and try to avoid anything physically strenuous or emotionally challenging.
I recommend a calm state and environment so you can integrate the session. You may wish to go on a gentle walk, spend some time in quiet reflection or journal your thoughts.
People have different responses to kinesiology. Most people say they feel lighter, clearer and happier.
On some occasion, people experience a body detoxification process (need to eliminate water a lot) or feel tired, ‘flat’ or rarely have negative emotions surface. Rest assured this is a normal part of the healing process and can occur when a big shift has taken place. In most cases the unpleasant stuff resolves within a day or two.

Suggested Treatment Plan
The number of required sessions will depend on how long you have had the symptoms/stress for, how much work you have already done on it and how quickly your body responds to the sessions. This will be discussed during your initial consultation.
Please be prepared for a series of 4-5 sessions spaced between 2-3 weeks for us to clear all the aspects of an issue.
Extremely complex chronic issues may take considerable time to achieve results and all that can be realistically hoped for may be a moderate degree of change rather than spectacular results.
Most people end up incorporating kinesiology in an ongoing health routine on a 4-8 weeks basis to keep them feeling uplifted, empowered, free from stress, relaxed in the body, healthy, happy and positive.
